INTRODUCTION:

AFCITRIN is a Tapioca based cereal binder to substitute yellow dextrin powder. It has been developed to enable foundry men to save time and money in core & mould shop production. Using silica sand bonded with Afcitrin binder will harden at room temperature. Sand bonded with AFCITRIN is equally effective as facing sands for moulds.

 

DESCRIPTION:

AFCITRIN is very fine yellow powder & is highly soluble in cold water. Due to which it migrates with moisture to the outer surface of the mould and builds up a smooth, hard exterior surface that resists metal penetration and results in smoother cleaner and better castings AFCITRIN also helps to retain moisture in moulds that are not to be poured immediately.

Develops high air-drying strength.

APPLICATION:

  1. Put the dry sand in the mixer
  2. Add the appropriate quantity of water.
  3. Run the mixer until water is well distributed.
  4. Add AFCITRIN as recommended depending upon the strength requirements.
  5. Mix AFCITRIN homogeneously.

 

AFCIL PROCEDURE FOR RECOMMENDED ADDITIONS:

  1. Add dry & moisture free clean sand in the muller.
  2. Add water as required approximately ( 2 – 3 ) % & mix for 2/3 minutes.
  3. Correctly weigh the quantity of AFCITRIN (1 ½ to 2) % & add in muller mixer.
  4. Mix for about 2/3 minutes.
  5. Discharge the above mix sand in the container & is ready for making moulds / cores.

 

SPECIAL FUNCTION:

Heavy block cores are used in building up moulds for motor engine blocks and crank cases are completely hardened by passing through in one cycle only. In vertical continuous stove 50% saving of drying time is achieved over conventional oil – bonded cores, which normally require staving time for two cycles under the same conditions.

PRECAUTIONS:

  1. Always close the bag tightly when not in use.
  2. Material is non – toxic, non – irritant & safe to use.
  3. Normal safety aids like goggles & hand gloves may be used.
