GENERAL:

AFCIMOL series of Solvent base coatings for mould & cores available in various refractories such as Graphite, Al.Siliminite  , Zircon , Zircon-Graphite , Magnesite , etc…  for general-purpose use depending on their individual application characteristics are available in ready for use form, Slurry form & Powder form.

INTRODUCTION:

The use of mould & core wash has now become an important & accepted part of foundry practice. This was not always the case, but the increased importance of good surface finish on a castings & the realization of the greatly reduced cleaning costs made possible by their use, have over the past few years, awakened realization to the considerable advantages their regular use can show.

In the same way, too, the use of solvent – based dressings in India largely developed by AFFCIL has long passed the experimental stage & is now accepted as most satisfactory, fulfilling the long felt need for a material combining the benefits of a dressing & skin drying agent.

ADVANTAGES:

  1. Easy to prepare – With Afcimol dressing of core is easy to prepare & does not required stand to develop the bond.
  2. Sand inclusion prevented – The combined effect of the higher refractory ingredients of the dressing & the burning action is to hardened the mould face & so reduce the occurrence of sand inclusions / fusion.
  3. Smooth castings surface is produced – the molten metal flows smoothly over the treated sand surface, it cannot penetrate nor burn-in & an excellent smooth casting surface is thus produced.
  4. Minimum cleaning required – Because of the smooth casting skin produced, a minimum of cleaning in the fettling shop is required.
  5. Benefit of dry sand work is obtained –with green sand work AFCIL coat confers the benefits of stove drying or torching without the extra cost & time involved in these operations.
  6. Economical – Apart from the reduction in production costs, AFCIL coat is very economical in use. Defect arising from sand scouring & scabbing, sand fusion particularly in the region of the gates are minimized. Thus castings having an improved surface are produced & cleaning costs greatly reduced.
